Worthy Grand Matron SIster Mary Owen (Tularosa Basin #72 and Ruidoso #65)
|
|
Sister Mary was born in Dallas, IA. She grew up in Moline, IL and then moved to Troy, MO where she married husband Tom in 1963. She has worked as a real estate agent. Mary received a BA in Art from St. Mary’s College in St. Mary’s City MD. Sister Mary was initiated in Troy, Missouri in 1967 and served as Worthy Matron in 1971. On moving to New Mexico she affiliated with Tularosa Basin Chapter #72 and served as WM in 1994. Mary served as Grand Representative of Scotland from ’00-’01 and has been Grand Librarian, served on the Education Board and is currently also a District Instructor. She and husband Tom have one son, three daughters, two grandsons, five granddaughters, one great-grandson, and one great-granddaughter. The family also includes a dog, three cats and a variety of goldfish. Her varied interests include working in clay and crafts, reading, travel, and listening to most types of music.

Worthy Grand Patron Brother Bill Fuller (Jal #60 and Bethany #56)
|
|
Bill became a Master Mason in 1978. He has served Jal Lodge #65 as Master twice and is now Treasurer of the Lodge. Brother Bill and Sister Donnie were married July 26, 1958. They have three daughters and five grandchildren. Their daughters and granddaughter are also members of the Order. Bill and Donnie were initiated into Jal Chapter #60 in March 1993 and dualed with Bethany #56 in 1995. Bill has been Worthy Patron of Jal Chapter twice and is now in his second term as Worthy Patron of Bethany Chapter. Bill taught school in Texas from August 1958 to May 1965 and in Jal from August 1965 to May 1987. He received his Bachelor of Science Degree in Mathematics from EastTexasStateTeachers College, his Master of Education Degree in Secondary Education from NorthTexasStateUniversity, and his Master of Natural Science Degree in Earth Science from the University of Oklahoma.

Associate Grand Matron Sister Georgia “Kitt” McKown (Jessamine #45)

|
Sister Georgia “Kitt” McKown was born and raised in Albuquerque, New Mexico. On May 20, 1974, Sister Kitt was initiated into Albuquerque #67 where she served in several offices, including being elected Sentinel, before moving her membership to Jessamine #45 when she and husband, Butch moved the family to Belen. She has served as Worthy Matron in 1987-1988 and again in 1997-1998. She held a number of Grand Chapter appointments including Registration, General Arrangements, Grand Historian, New Mexico Travel Club State Chairman and as Grand Representative to North Carolina before being elected as Associate Grand Conductress. Kitt and Butch have been married for 38 years and have 2 daughters, 2 granddaughters and 1 really terrific son-in-law. She is the daughter of Jean and Earle George.

Associate Grand Patron Brother Dan F. Irick (Turquoise #71)

|
Brother Dan started his Masonic career in 1976 when he became a member of Montezuma Lodge #35 in Phoenix, Arizona. He served New Mexico as Grand Master in 1998. He is currently a member of Turquoise Chapter #71 and has just completed his third time as Worthy Patron. Our Grand Sentinel is a member of other Masonic organizations including Scottish Rite, National Sojourners and the Shrine. One of his hobbies is being a Shrine clown – most specifically Dinky the Clown.

Grand Secretary Sister Barbara Brock-Eichmuller (Silver City #3)

|
Barbara was born and raised in Denver, Colorado. She was in the International Order of Job's Daughters in Denver from 1950 to 1959, when she became a Majority Member upon marrying. She joined OES in Spencer, New York in 1961, affiliated with Hayward Chapter in Hayward, California in 1979. Moving to Fairfield, California in 1988, she became a member of Suisun Chapter #2, where she served as Worthy Matron in 1994. Barbara is a Past Matron of Ruth Chapter #6 and is now a member of Silver City Chapter #3, where she is currently the Conductress. She has served Grand Chapter in several capacities: District Instructor, Grand Representative, and as Grand Marshal. She and her husband Charles have 6 children and 21 grandchildren between them.

Grand Treasurer Sister Betty Robertson, PGM (Los Alamos #63)

|
Sister Betty served as Worthy Grand Matron in 2000-2001.She was Worthy Matron of Los Alamos Chapter #63 in 1990-1991. She has been a member of Eastern Star for 48 years, beginning in Commerce, Texas. She was born in Wichita Falls and has a Bachelor of Arts degree from East Texas State University. Betty is married to Charles A. (Robbie) Robertson in 1954. They have two children, four grandchildren, and a great grandson. Betty loves to travel, bowl, do needlework, and sing.

Grand Conductress Sister Pamala James (Alamo #11)

|
Sister Pam began her Masonic life as a Rainbow Girl in 1975, and in 1978 she, along with her sister and father, joined Alamo Chapter #11. She and her husband, Brad, were not only Worthy Matron and Worthy Patron of Alamo Chapter, but also served in the east in Friendship Chapter #4 in Kaiserlauthen, Germany when they were stationed there. Sister Pam is a registered nurse at Gerald Champion Regional Medical Center in Alamogordo.

Associate Grand Conductress Sister Debbie Davis (Roswell #10)

|
Sister Debbie is a 36 year member. She was born 10/27 in Grove City, PA; the family moved to Roswell when she was 10 years old. She graduated from Goddard High School. Sister Debbie was a Rainbow Girl in Roswell where here future husband was also in the Order of DeMolay. She and Dewey were married in 1970. Sister Debbie was initiated into Roswell Chapter #10 in 1972 where she has been WM 3 times, ’84-‘85, and –‘94-’95, and 2007-‘08. She has served as Grand Chapter in numerous positions including Grand Martha, Grand Representative in Indiana in New Mexico, Chairman of General Arrangements, and District Instructor. She has served on the Rainbow Board and was also Mother Advisor. Sister Debbie has also served many years in Cub Scout and Boy Scout positions. She also served as church youth group advisor and went on many mission trips. Sister Debbie is a co-owner of Davis Lumber and Hardware and Equipment Rental. She and Dewey have2 sons, Darrell and Darren, and seven grandchildren. Her interests/hobbies include sewing, quilting, cooking, and babysitting the grandkids

Grand Trustee, Chairman Sister Betty Self, PGM (San Marcial #34 and Turquoise #71)

Sister Betty was born in Oklahoma. She attended business college in Vernon Texas. After marrying she moved to Albuquerque in 1951 where she worked for the Williamson Real Estate Agency. Following the death of their respective spouses, she and Paul were married in 1982. Sister Betty was initiated in San Marcial chapter #34 in 1953 and served as Worthy Matron in 1969. She was Worthy Grand Matron in 1988-89. She and Paul have 3 children and 4 grandchildren. She has been designated as Grand Treasurer Emeritus.

Grand Trustee Brother Richard Morris, PGP (Las Cruces #20)

|
Brother Richard was born in Silver City, NM. His father was in the Air Force so he traveled a lot including Germany and Alaska. His early education was in Abilene, Texas and he holds a B.S. in Electrical Engineering (NMSU). After 38 years at White Sands Missile range he retired in 2000. Richard joined Eastern Star in 1978 and is a member of Las Cruces #20 having served three times as Worthy Patron. He served as Worthy Grand Patron 2004-2005. Presently he is president of the Sunset Club. He is a 33° member of the Scottish Rite. Richard has worked with the Rainbow Girls and was awarded the Grand Cross of Color. He spent 25 years as a high school football official and enjoys collecting anything old and unusual, stamps, coins, and baseball cards. He also has a rather large collection of ducks, but not the kind you have to feed!

Grand Trustee Sister Gayle L. Smith, PGM (Adah #5)

|
Sister Gayle Smith was initiated on election night in 1989 into Adah Chapter #5. She was Worthy Matron of Adah Chapter during their centennial year in 1993-94. Sister Gayle served as Worthy Grand Matron 2005-2006. She was married for 29 plus years to Brother Jim Smith. Sister Gayle retired with 35 years of teaching. She taught at Los Lunas Middle School from 1979 until her retirement. Gayle has also worked with the New Mexico Grand Assembly for several years. She has been our Registration and Meals person and does a great job. Sister Gayle is very talented and likes to paint, do cross-stitch, beadwork, read and likes computers.

Grand Chaplain Brother Don Sultemeier (Sunshine #44)

Brother Don was born December 14th in Santa Fe. His parents and grandparents were Eastern Star members. He started school in a one room adobe school in Borica, NM, finally graduating in Moriarty. After several years at NM State Brother Don received a certificate in Ranch Management from TCU. He was initiated in the Order of DeMolay in the Estancia Chapter where he was Master Councilor and Jr. Steward of the state DeMolay Association. In 1973 Brother Don was raised a Master Mason in Estancia Lodge #33 after which he demitted to Liberty Lodge #51 in Santa Rosa. After marrying Kathie in 1974 and they have t who children, Melvin and Elisabeth who are also active Eastern Star members. He and Kathie were both were initiated into Sunshine Chapter #44 in 1984 where he and Kathie have served as WM and WP together three times and he has been WP a total of six times. Service to Grand Chapter includes numerous committees, Grand Representative of Maine, and District Instructor in ’99-2000. Brother Don enjoys hunting, fishing, and collecting arrowheads and old firearms. His hobby is leather craft. He is self employed and own THE FEED STORE in Santa Rosa.

Grand Marshal Sister Cavell Miller (Turquoise #71)

Sister Cavell was born on the 26th of February at the Naval Air Station in Patuxent River, Maryland. Yes, she was a military brat and had the opportunity to travel the United States and even lived in England before settling here in Albuquerque, NM in 1973. Cavell grew up in a Masonic family and has her Majority in the International Order of Rainbow for Girls and has the Grand Cross of Color She was initiated into the Order of the Eastern Star on November 19th, 1997 during Pat Strawderman and Bob Spencer's year in the east of Turquoise #71. Cavell believes in our order, bringing in many new members including her sister, mother in-law, daughter, and her Escort her friend and husband, Jay. Cavell and Jay have been together over 20 years and will celebrate 20 years of marriage in 2008. They have 2 children Tammra 22, Corey 17 and the newest addition; their grandson of 7 mouths, Alex. Cavell and Jay await the return of their son in law, Jeremy who has been deployed to Iraq for 15 mouths. Cavell likes the back of a motorcycle and will probably travel around the state on it this year. One of Cavell's enjoyments is computer designing and printing, and opened CAM Productions this past June. Her many collections include, Elvis memorabilia, Panda figures, Irish, Willow tree Angels, and her newest collection..."hot wheels" for her grandson.

Grand Organist Sister Melba Johnston (Tyrone #41)

Sister Melba was born on June 12th in Snyder, TX and raised in Ajo, AZ. When she was 12 her father joined became a Master Mason so the Melba could join Job’s Daughters. Job’s Daughters was a very important part of her growing up, she loved it, and held many different offices. She married Kenneth Ervin in 1963 and in 1968 they moved to Tyrone, NM where she joined Tyrone Chapter #41 in 1969. She served in many offices and was Worthy Matron in 1977 and 1984. She has also served Grand Chapter as Assistant Grand Organist. In Feb. 1987 she married Bobbie Johnston of Glenwood and in 1993 they started their own business, “Melba’s Sewing Basket.” When Bobbie passed away in 2001 she closed the business. Sister Melba has one son and three daughters, thirteen grandchildren and one great grandson. She enjoys sewing wearable art, quilting, and embroidery and also enjoys teaching sewing skills. In addition she likes to baking, cake decorating, and flower arranging. She also plays the piano and likes to sing.

Grand Adah Sister Kathy Walker ( Las Cruces #20)

Sister Kathy was born April 12 in Alliance, OH moving to Houston, TX while a junior in high school. After graduation she accepted a scholarship to Trinity University in San Antonio, TX and just the day after graduating with majors in math and physics she married her physics lab instructor, our Grand Sentinel, Brother Wayne Walker. After two years as an Air Force wife in Albuquerque, NM, the family moved back to Texas and Grad School at Texas A & M where she studied accounting. After Grad School and adopting our first daughter, we moved back to San Antonio so that we could be close to family to enable me to work while Wayne completed his Thesis. The next seven years were unbelievable. They adopted another daughter and two sons; she opened her bookkeeping business and passed the CPA exam. She and Wayne were initiated into Adah #49 in 1979 and she was immediately pro-teming as Warder. She also served as Esther, Associate Conductress, and Conductress. In 1984 they moved to Alamogordo and affiliated with Alamo #11. She held offices every year and in 1990-91 she and Wayne served as WM and WP. After a brief stint in California she returned to Las Cruces, affiliating with Las Cruces #20, serving as WM in 2002-03. Sister Kathy serving Grand Chapter on General Arrangements, numerous fund-raising committees, Hospitality, Registration and as Asst Warder, Asst. Marshal, and now as Grand Adah. She enjoys her memberships in Eastern Star – Las Cruces # 20 and Hatch # 52, Beauceant – El Paso # 141, and Daughters of the Nile. She is a member of First Presbyterian Church and has served as Treasurer as well as Elder and Deacon. Her leisure time activities include reading mystery novels, playing Sudoku, numerous types of crafts and camping with friends and family. My Faith in God leads to my collection of Crosses.

Grand Esther Sister Donnie Fuller (Jal #60, Bethany #56))

Sister Donnie was born in Lake Arthur, NM on Nov. 13th and attended school in Tatum. She graduated from NM JC and CSW. She was librarian for the City of Jal and Woolworth Community Library in Jal for 24 years before retiring in 2002. She and Brother Bill were married in July 1958 and have three daughters and five grandchildren. He and Bill joined Jal Chapter #60 in March 1993 and dueled with Bethany #56 in 1995. Sister Donnie has been Worthy Matron three times in Jal and has held numerous other stations in both Jal and Bethany. In 2002-2003 she was Grand Chaplain. She has taught Sunday school to young adults, high school girls, and couples classes at the First Baptist Church in Jal and is currently involved in the ladies ministry for “Ladies Night Out.” She enjoys playing games, reading, watching movies, visiting friends, yard work and her fish pond.

Grand Martha Sister Julianne Sherman (Los Alamos #63 / Santa Fe #19)

Sister Julianne was born in Seattle, WA and graduated from Highline High School. She moved to Santa Fe in November 1945. After marrying Brother Bob in 1981 she moved to Los Alamos where she joined Los Alamos Chapter #63 in March 1984. They moved back to Santa Fe in June 2003. Julianne has been Worthy Matron 4 times: ’89-’90, ’92-93. ’99-2000. and ’06-’07 and also served her chapter as Esther, Martha, Warder, and Chaplain. She has served Grand Chapter as Grand Trip Chairman, Chairman of Hospitality, Ass’t Grand Warder, Grand Representative of Manitoba (’99-’02), and numerous other appointments. She is also a member of Yucca Temple #74, Daughters of the Nile. Sister Julianne earned a Bachelor of Business Management from the College of Santa Fe and an Associate degree in Studio Art from UNM-LA. Her hobbies involve creating art work in variety of disciplines. She is deeply interested in Southwest history. The renowned owl collection has reached completion and no additions are needed or wanted. She also collects small rock/mineral/fossil specimens (and their points of origin) and she also enjoys unusual candles. She served many years as a Girl Scout leader and adult trainer; a junior high advisor at First Presbyterian Church in Santa Fe and a member of the Memorials Committee at the United Church in Los Alamos. She served as a board member of the Desert-Mountain Region of Hadassah for twenty years. Sister Julianne has six children (three now deceased) – two sons and 4 daughters, 3 stepchildren (Bro. Bob’s children), and together she and Bob have twelve grandchildren, and 3 great-grandchildren.

Grand Electa Sister Mazzie Cadle (Aztec #13)

Sister Mazzie was born on April 25th in Columbia, MO. Afterwards the family moved to Farmington, NM where she completed high school. In 1961 she married Brother Cliff and they raised three daughters. In additions Sister Mazzie has 9 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. Our Sister owns her own laundry and cleaning business in Farmington. She joined Farmington Chapter in 1961 where she has been Worthy Matron four times. She has also been Grand Representative of Utah and of Ontario. Her hobbies include antiques, yard sales and, of course, her grandchildren.

Grand Warder Sister Christy Breen (Artesia #18)

Sister Christy was born and raised in Carlsbad as a cattle rancher’s daughter. She graduated from Texas Tech University and New Mexico State University. She is now retired as a Special Education Teacher. She has two daughters and one granddaughter. Her eldest daughter was initiated in February 2006 in Artesia #18. Christy was initiated in Carlsbad Chapter #54 in February 1977. She served as Worthy Matron of Harmony Chapter #11 in Wilcox ,Arizona in 1984, Love Chapter #73 in Carlsbad 1997-98, and Artesia #18 -2005-06. She is presently the Worthy Matron of Artesia Chapter #18 and served as Grand Representative of New Hampshire 2006-07. She enjoys spending time with her family, sewing, horseback riding and spending time in God’s beautiful mountains. Her other pleasure is her Eastern Star family who she enjoys doing things with and for.

Grand Sentinel Brother Wayne Walker (Las Cruces #20 and Hatch #52)

Brother Wayne was born in San Antonio, Texas on February 4 and it can be truly said that he was born in front of the Alamo; two blocks in front to be precise. He joined DeMolay at age 14 where he served as Master Councilor and Illustrious Knight Commander; later he was honored by DeMolay International being made a Chevalier. Brother wayne attended Trinity University where he met Kathlene M. Scott in a Physics lab that he was teaching. Before graduating from Trinity University with a Bachelor of Science in Physics and joined the Air Force, he joined was initiated in Albert Pike Lodge #1169. Two years later, he and Kathy were married in the same chapel they attended at Trinity University. While in the Air Force, he conducted high energy laser research at Kirtland AFB. After the service, they returned to Texas where he recieved a Master of Science Degree in Physics from Texas A&M. They then moved to San Antonio where Wayne worked at Southwest Research Institute. In 1979, Wayne and Kathy joined Adah Chapter #49, in San Antonio, Texas where he served as Worthy Patron. In 1982 they moved to Alamogordo and joined Alamo #11 where he was Worthy Patron three times. In 1995, Brother Wayne served as Grand Chaplin. Then, after a brief time in California, they moved to Las Cruces where they joined Las Cruces Chapter #20 and Hatch Chapter #52 where I was Worthy Patron once. He is currently Associate Patron in Hatch #52. They have four adopted, loving children, and 10 grandchildren. My retirement is filled with family, household projects and an avid love of caving and spends many hours underground on scientific and archaeological projects. Wayne is also serving as secretary of the Las Cruces York Rite bodies.
