Our dear Sister Jan Ross died on Sunday, December 7th at 4:30 p.m. at home with family around her. Jan has had cancer for over twenty-five years, most recently three or more brain tumors (one removed in April, one in October). Besides cancer, she suffered with a bad back and a double knee replacement a few years ago. Then, she lost two of her adult children - Cindy in October 2006 and Jimmy in July 2007. Cindy's son Quin has recently taken up residency at Casa Angelica in the south valley of Albuquerque (Jan's son Daryl has been the main caregiver, as Jan was unable to do it). Jan's husband Gay of over 50 years and another son Carl who lives in Rio Rancho also survive her, as well as lots and lots of grandchildren. There will be a service for her at the 1st Baptist Church, 203 Spring St., Socorro at 10:00 a.m., on Thursday, December 11th, with Jessamine #45 heading up the OES funeral service. A reception is planned at the Masonic Hall afterwards - 912 Leroy Pl., Socorro. Nadine Blythe WM and Kathy Richardson (Magdalen #9) have been our main informants. All of Magdalen #9 will miss her dearly, as well as those who knew her in NM OES. I will miss my wonderful friend and traveling companion! Karen Robertson

Brother Frank Devine, (Artesia #18) passed away on Nov. 20. The funeral will be 10:00 AM Tuesday Nov. 25 at Faith Baptist Church [401 S. 20th St.(575) 746-3488] in Artesia. This was very sudden. We were all shocked and sadden. He was a member of the Masons for 47 years and a member of OES for 43 years. He was a Past Master of his Lodge and had been Worthy Patron 14 times in Artesia. He was the backbone of our Chapter. We will miss him more than words can say. He left behind a wife, Edie, a member, and a very large family.
