Sister Bettye was initiated in Eunice Chapter # 66 in April of 1966 after her first husband became a Mason and then after Eunice joined Jal # 60 she has been a member for 44 years. She dualed with Lovington #35 in 2002 and has served as Worthy Matron once in Eunice and also in Lovington. She has also served as Grand Representive of Kentucky in New Mexico, District Instructor of District #8, and several of the Star Points.
Sister Bettye was born in Merced, California on June 16th and has lived in many States from Washington to Louisiana. She graduated from Carlsbad High School in 1961. She raised her family and then went back to school and has her Respiratory Therapy degree from Pulaski College in Little Rock, Arkansas. She retired after 23 years in the medical field and joined her husband in operating their own funeral home in Lovington. Between she and her husband James, they have 5 children, 12 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren, having lost James’ son in 1989 at age 21. She is active in her church and sings in the choir.
She enjoys traveling, talking, reading, sewing, singing, music and people. She has been blessed being a part of OES for many years.
