Joyce was born in Portland, Oregon. During her school years, Joyce also was a Jobs Daughter Friendship #1, Portland, Oregon. After high school,  She married and moved to Beaufort, South Carolina.  She has two children, Peggy and Mike, and a step daughter, Michielle. Joyce has 7 Grandchildren and 4 Great Grandchildren, all of which live in Texas, South Carolina, Arizona, and Wyoming. 
   Joyce joined Eastern Star in 1960 which means she is now a 50 year member.  While in Beaufort she served as Worthy Matron in Beaufort Chapter 133 in 1969. From 1961 to 1965 she was advisor to Rainbow Girls and recieved the Grand Cross of Colors. During the Shoot for the Stars session, Joyce was Grand Ruth and Worthy Matron of Tularosa Basin #72 and traveling companion to Sister Mary Owen,WGM,  she is now serving as Grand Esther and is the traveling companion to Brother Mike Beckett, Worthy Grand Patron.  Joyce has also served the Grand Chapter on the Campout committee and General Arrangements.
  After marring Mike, they stayed in Beaufort for several years, then  she moved to Deming,NM after Mike was transferred to Japan, however, Deming life was to slow, she bought a ticket and joined Mike in Japan. Returning to the States, Joyce and Mike lived in Yuma, Arizona.  After Mike retired from the Marine Corps, they remained in Yuma for several more years before moving to Cloudcroft, NM. Joyce joined Tularosa Basin Chapter #72 and dueled with Ruidoso Chapter #65. Joyce is also Conductress in Ruidoso, and Esther in Tularosa.
